  1. Always impressed with the breadth of comics you read over a month. But a few things stood out.

Glad you read a bonkers Beowulf. Such a crazy comic. Loved beyond words. Putting Dracula in it is like adding MSG to food!

I was also a fan of JSA AllStars, especially that Power Girl was team leader. I definitely liked the Freddie Williams art although I know he is an acquired taste.

But the big win of the month was the two Englehart Mr. Miracle books. I am old enough to remember buying the first issue of the run off the shelves. It was my first exposure to the 4th world characters. That first issue was like being tossed into the deep end.

Even at that tender age I knew that Marshall Rogers art was a notch above the norm and that his Big Barda made me feel odd sensations.

I have since sought out and bought all the issues in that run. I even had Englehart sign one when I met him at Terrificon a few years ago. Perhaps a pic of that will end up on Twitter soon. Definitely worth reading more of that (I believe) 5 issue revival. Michael Golden comes on art after Rogers.

    1. I need to spend more time with the width and breadth of the Englehart books. Not totally a blind spot, but I need to read more.

  2. I also enjoyed those Mr Miracle book, they were so different from anything else I was reading; extra points to Englehart for going his own way.

I like Freddie Williams’ art before that JSA All-Stars book, but his Power Girl was just ridiculous, even given her noted décolletage - it was distracting, but not in a good way.

Ghost Castle has been showing up in ComiXology so I’ve bought the odd issue. Actually, every issue seems odd. My fave story was ‘A soul a day keeps the devil away’ from #1 - the nuddie demons amused me.

Now I didn’t say I disliked all fantasy books, I was a big fan of Arak and Arion and original Amethyst, as well as Conan when. JM DeMatteis was writing!

    1. Yes, but it is funnier to say that you HATE the genre.
