As usual, great episode covering an issue I have never even heard of, let alone seen the classic cover. Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThis feels like a sort of old school JLA issue where a big team splits into two teams to fight a threat on two sides. But I just think it would be easier to send the whole freaking team against a lightweight like Arcade rather than navigate the trickier situation of international embassies and Dr. Freaking Doom.
Perhaps the biggest revelation for me was Cockrum being on art! I was this many years old before I realized that Cockrum returned to the XMEN book AFTER John Byrne left! I knew he left early but assumed he never looked back! INSANITY!
Waving my DC flag high when showing that ignorance!
That is kind of how I feel covering anything about those darned mutants. I just don't know much about them.
DeleteAs always, I enjoyed this episode of Doom Speak. Chris Claremont's interpretation of Doom is complex. I like that his Doom is a combination of arrogance, psychological complexity, manipulation, and dashing playboy. However, he fails in my, opinion, when it comes to Doom's regal presence and what he will tolerate from inferiors. All in all, Claremont is not in my top five Doom chroniclers. I look forward to your completion of this arc and hearing your take. If it fits in your schedule, consider following this arc with John Byrne's Fantastic Four #258 for the further adventures of A-76
ReplyDeletethe above hasty scribble was from me not Anonymous
