ReplyDeleteI am surprised you are so high on this story when I think about the overhead Doom has to deal with to keep this woman happy. Not only the upkeep of Doombots - a townful. But as you say some Doombots have to 'die' which means, to keep up the illusion, that means some Doombots need to be born. Their can't be a town without kids, right? And then there are people who wander into town for a bite and everything else. This was a working diner - so who is buying the food? Changing the menu? Cooking? Is there a gas station? A grocery store? Is Doom managing an entire town from Latveria? How much money does that cost? Surely a finance professor would recognize the folly! Wouldn't it be cheaper to just put the woman in a VR?
ReplyDeleteAnyways, it is thought provoking. For people who know all of Doom's history my guess is the underlying heart of Doom, loving mother figures and wanting to keep his word, resonates. I wonder if others read this and said 'this is weird'.
Doom doesn't run the town, the doombots do. And they are supervised by doombots. Who then report to doombots. And overseeing them is ... wait a minute ...
