Great episode and fun to hear about all these books. Much like my request with your movie lists, I might ask for the list of comics to be posted, perhaps after a 'read more' link so folks know.
ReplyDeleteSome thoughts:
Bombshells - like you I loved the earlier title. Bennett was running 4 different storylines with different characters until they all met up. Each story's art was based on propaganda films from the WWII era which made them pretty cool. Like you I also thought the second round was less fun, veering from story to agenda.
Rebirth - Like you, I was ready for something new, and less New 52. Loved this and the era that followed (no matter how brief it was)
Superstars - a reminder that many of the characters you mentioned here - Space Cabbie, Tommy Tomorrow, Star Rovers - are featured in the Chaykin JLGL miniseries Twilight, a grim view of these scifi heroes
DC v Marvel - you stored these ones right, keep the 4 together
Destructor - Love this series and have them all. Last issue, they decide to super him up a bit much. Villain in issue 2 looks a lot like Peter Lorre's character in Mad Love. Pure Ditko energy!
Nice collection Prof!
That is an excellent idea. i will forward that to my direct supervisor.
DeleteYes, that was my sense on where Bombshells was going.
i think i am missing an issue of Twilight. Will read them together once I have them all.
