ReplyDeleteAs you say, there was an era where comics included 'every day heroes' - deep sea divers, spelunkers, car drivers, and physicians (I'm looking at you Young Dr. Masters). Heck Showcase #1 had Fireman Farrell!
I suppose they are hard draws when you have your choice of seeing someone toss cars as artillery and marauding aliens or someone exploring a cave.
Heck, even here do you want to read Sea Devils or (as you said) Aquaman or Sub-Mariner.
In fact, the only recent 'regular' book I have read is Criminal by Brubaker/Phillips, although those regular folks are crooks.
Yeah, i don't know the last "regular guy" hero series in the mainstream DC or Marvel worlds. Gotham Central?
