Sounds like a great month of books. A couple of comments.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely looking forward to the Captain Victory book. I found almost all of those books in the buck box here and think they are wild. Almost unfettered creativity. If you like the concept, Sterling Gates wrote a decent update for Dynamite during their Kirby push.
I read the Ditko Shade every 4-5 years hoping this will be the time I can follow it. Never happens. But I love the visuals. And I love the concepts. It is the story that just is scattered. Perhaps that is the point ... MADNESS.
Lastly, I am a huge Philip K. Dick fan. He is probably my favorite author. Love Electric Sheep. But I will highly reommend Ubik. I also think The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch. Weird and wild. But I have read a ton of his stuff. Always fascinating. Might be some grist for the 'Dorkness to Light' podcast. The idea of 'am I real' or 'am I in control of my life' are central to his books. And in Electric Sheep - Mercerism, the Sisyphus like religion based on pain and never getting anywhere, alone would be fascinating.
Thanks for this, Doc. I read some of the more recent Shade books, the Vertigo series written by Peter Milligan. Weird, but slightly more follow-able in terms of plot. But this Ditko stuff ... I love me some Ditko, but ... shaking my head.
