Another splendid episode. I'm afraid I've never been able to read an issue of the Eternals... Ikarus looks such a pillock with his girlie hair. The art, otherwise, does look amazing, but so far as I could see, Eternals looked like just another take on the New Gods but without a compelling villain. Read more, so I don't have to.

It certainly was an "art first" situation for me, which is unusual. I do confess that I am intrigued by the world-building, but yes, there certainly was a familiar feel to the book.
DeleteIn terms of the music, I have been expanding beyond the Wagner every now and then, but not for this episode. It was Wagner's "Seigfried & the Rhine Maidens."

ReplyDeleteAs you noted, I really like the Eternals. Kirby could definitely have used an editor or scriptor for much of his 70s work, but I think it is a definite improvement on his Fourth World scripting. Not perfect certainly. But the art he did on the Celestials was glorious and the mythology he created of secret offshoots of humanity was fascinating. I only wish he had been able to continue and keep it separate from the Marvel Universe, I admit there have been some good Eternals stories set in the Marvel U...but they work best in their own world. Thanks again for the shoutout!
