Hey Professor and Emily,
ReplyDeleteI had a blast listening to this episode of the podcast with your Marvel TV roundup. Admittedly, I skipped over the section on POWERS because I, like most people, did not watch the show.
I had to chime in on this episode because of one of Alan's comments about Daredevil. While I agree with you two on just about every other point, I can't believe that S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers would take an interest in Wilson Fisk's escape in episode 13. Fisk wasn't a metahuman, or a war criminal, he was barely the Kingpin we recognize from the comics. He was a supposedly legitimate businessman with some minor political aspirations. Nick Fury wouldn't send Captain America if Bernie Madoff escaped from federal custody.
I did binge watch the show the first day it came out, although circumstances allowed me this luxury. I didn't have to work that Friday and the wife was going out of town that weekend, so I dropped her off at the airport and started watching Daredevil at roughly 9:00 AM and finished the season at two or three the next morning. I don't know if I could ever do this again, because it was exhausting.
Releasing the Netflix shows one episode a day for two weeks would be interesting. I wonder if it would force the show to reflect more of the traditional cliffhanger model.
Beyond that--another great episode! I cracked up at the "Shake It Off" bit at the end.
